A woman escaped serious injury yesterday after the car she was driving ended up through the front window of an Invercargill shop.

Caroline Eve store manager Christine Sinclair said staff were working and customers browsing in the Don St shop when the accident happened.

‘‘Luckily there was no-one in the corner,’’ she said.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were all called to the scene at 1.40pm.

An ambulance spokesman said there was one female patient, who had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police confirmed there was only one person in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
