Consent bid for 20 2-floor terrace houses

Northlake Investments Ltd has applied to the Queenstown Lakes District Council for consent to build 20 two-storey, three-bedroom terrace houses on lots of between 155sqm and 355sqm.

The houses would be in five separate 8m-high blocks of four units, in two rows divided by a 1025sq m reserve.

The development is proposed for 4960sqm of vacant land in Northlake Dr, about 180m west of the Northlake village centre.

It was part of the master plan for the Northlake special zone approved by the council in 2016.

The company’s application notes the development would result in the lots being "affordable" under the council’s district plan rules.

"Affordability has been a key consideration in the design process, and the aim is for an affordable, practical and low-maintenance product to suit a range of end users."

Each unit would have two car parks. Most would have the option of a single car port, and each would have 40sqm of outdoor living space, orientated towards the central reserve.

Public submissions close on October 11.
