The event was held in the Gore Town & Country Club on Saturday and over a thousand people came through the doors.
The Nattering Knitters’ "yarn bomb" welcomed visitors in and set the tone for the day as they were able to peruse the various traders selling all things wool.
There were free crafting sections for children and event founder Amy Hughes said it was a delight to see just how well the festival went.
"There was a really good turnout. More than last year.
"The ladies who were looking after the children’s crafting areas said they had the biggest turnout in the three years they’ve been doing it," she said.
Mrs Hughes attributed the success to the passion and generosity of the community who came out to volunteer and be a part of the day.
Another aspect to the event was the "knit-along", where knitters were invited to create a shawl beforehand, based on a design for the day.
Twenty knitters took up the task and although some could not attend on the day, Mrs Hughes said she was looking toward the future to weave as many people as she could into the next knit-along.
"It’s something I’d love to to continue and make bigger, the more people joining into things like the knit-along, I think it’d be really good," she said.
