Hospice South has announced the launch of Reloved, a retail and donation hub which will combine most of the existing operations under one roof.
Taking over the former Hunting & Fishing building, the new store is designed to provide an efficient and streamlined retail and donation experience.
Hospice South chief executive Pete Thompson described this as a strategic investment into the future of Hospice South, but also the community.
"Every dollar raised through our retail operations helps ensure Hospice South can continue providing specialist palliative care and support to local families free of charge."
He hoped this combined retail hub would optimise efficiency and improve accessibility, adding "it allows us to maximise the value of every donation and purchase made".
The new store would serve as the "flagship destination" for donated goods, second-hand shopping, community events and fundraising, he said.
In addition to Reloved, the furniture store on Yarrow St will be repurposed into a Hospice South outlet shop, primarily focusing on affordable, high-turnover clothing.
Retail assistant manager Kimsharee Burke said this concept had been designed with convenience and community in mind.
"Reloved represents the next evolution of Hospice South retail, bringing our stores together allows us to operate more efficiently and deepen our connection with the community."
She hoped it would become more than just a retail space, wanting it to be a "community hub that reflects the generosity of Southlanders and strengthens support for hospice care".
The new store also aimed to support commitments to sustainability by "extending the lifespan of quality goods and generating additional revenue that directly supports hospice services".
Mr Thompson said that visibility played an important role in this launch.
"Hospice South is deeply woven in our community, Reloved gives us a stronger presence and creates more opportunities for people to connect with our purpose."
He wanted anyone who shopped, volunteered or donated to feel like they were making a positive impact in the lives of local families.
"Reloved represents an important step towards ensuring long-term sustainability while strengthening community engagement and support."
Opening details and community launch activities will be announced in the coming weeks.
