Māruawai College’s year 13 prefects laced up their dancing shoes last week for their annual variety concert.

The spectacle was held at St James Theatre on May 6 and 7.

Teacher Olivia Grace said the show was carrying on an "age-old tradition" within the school, with a modern twist.

Its name, Six Seven Sharp was a play on the trending slang "six seven" and was inspired by the evening television show Seven Sharp.

About 150 students from both senior and junior campuses hit the stage.

Sports teams, including the senior A netball team, classes and friendship groups were some involved in song and dance, with comedic narration in between.

St James Theatre personnel, school staff and members of the community helped the show come to fruition.
