title on Wednesday.
She skipped the Green Island team that won the champion of champions fours on the North East Valley green.
The Green Island team of Dianne Jackson, Gaynor Todd, Dorothy Burnard and Rance beat Outram's Mary Stevenson, Anne Warrington-Blair, Sue Hodges and Marion Hambleton 22-19.
It was the first Bowls Dunedin title for Jackson and Todd, and the third for Burnard, who has been playing bowls for 33 years.
Rance lies fourth on the Bowls Dunedin list of women's champions behind Gaynor Reid 24, Doreen Bell and Carolyn Crawford 21.
She was runner-up in three other events this season and would be second on the list if these events had gone her way.
Rance has been playing bowls for 22 years and won her first title in her third year of bowls, 19 years ago - in the pairs with Faye Cosgrove, who was also a third-year bowler.
Rance followed in the footsteps of her mother, Phyl Reynolds (Tainui), when she won her fifth title and gold star.
''We are the only mother and daughter to win a Bowls Dunedin gold star,'' Rance said.
It was the fifth centre title for Jackson, who has also won three titles in South Canterbury and one in Kapiti.
She played a key role in the final with her accurate lead bowls. Jackson dominated the front bowls and played an important role in Green Island gaining an 8-2 lead after just four of the 18 ends.
Outram then found its feet and collected 11 shots on the next five ends to lead 13-9 after nine ends.
Green Island came back into the game by scoring fours on the 10th and 11th ends to lead 17-13.
''There has been a lot of rain and the green was very heavy,'' Rance said.
''You think you have got heaps of weight on but you haven't.''
Green Island led 20-19 before the last two ends and accurate draw bowls by Jackson and Todd on the two ends clinched the win.
