Pimm's century helps get Cromwell home by five runs

Cromwell opener Sam Pimm notched a hundred to help set up a tense five-run win against Maniototo in Otago Country club cricket on Saturday.

Pimm stroked 10 fours and hit three sixes on his way to the century. He helped drag his side through to an impressive 231 for six from 40 overs.

Sukhdev Singh offered some support with 36 from 49 balls.

Ryan Becker was the pick of the Maniototo bowlers with one for 31 from eight overs. He also played a useful cameo with the bat with a run-a-ball 31.

Lochie Elliot got the chase off to a bright start with 65 from 55.

Sam Miller (34) and Jacob Laurent (31 not out) kept their side in the hunt but the visiting team fell agonisingly short. Inderjeet Waraich's parsimonious spell of two for 17 from eight was crucial for Cromwell.

Blackstone Hill beat Albion by six wickets in Omakau.

Albion batted first and reached a modest 125 for nine. Steven Hobson top-scored with 31 and Corey Blair chipped in with 30.

Barry White took three for nine and Tim McCormick claimed two for 19.

McCormick's undefeated 44 helped seal a comfortable win. George Catto scored a useful 27.

Scott Mitchell was the pick of the Albion bowlers with one for 13 from five overs.

The match between Queenstown Wakatipu and Queenstown Seniors was abandoned due to poor weather.
