Ricki Herbert's `Dani and Daniel Show' looks set to continue as the Wellington Phoenix keep finding the back of the net at Westpac Stadium.
The Phoenix dispatched Sydney FC 4-2 today, which followed on from their 5-2 thrashing of Newcastle in their last home game.
Spanish midfielder Dani Sanchez and Brazilian winger Daniel each scored a goal in the romp over Sydney and Daniel also laid on assist.
The pair were prolific against Newcastle too and Herbert said the attacking duo had developed a good understanding recently.
"I think Dani's been good. He's got that little X factor,'' Herbert said. "He's got the ability to put things away when games are tight, I think that's important for us to have and Daniel's been great for us. I think he's probably better at home than he is away, if you can draw that synergy, but that's not from any negativity, but he's a great boy and I think he's a real crowd favourite and he responds to that and delivers the goods.''
Further music to Herbert's ears was the return of Paul Ifill, who came off the bench against Sydney after recovering from a groin injury.
The 32-year-old looked lively and scored a stoppage-time goal to put the final touch on the rout.
Ifill is likely to return to the starting line-up when the Phoenix host Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon, potentially at the expense of veteran forward Chris Greenacre, who has played a lot more minutes than expected this season.
Greenacre has worked tirelessly this year, but was out of the goals against Sydney as Sanchez, Daniel and Ifill were joined on the score sheet by defender Ben Sigmund, who headed home the vital go-ahead goal in the 78th minute from a Leo Bertos corner.
Sigmund's second goal of the season came after the Phoenix had let Sydney back in to a game they had dominated throughout.
Although Sydney took an early lead through a Brett Emerton penalty, after Vince Lia handled the ball in his box, the Phoenix went in to the half-time break 2-1 ahead following Daniel and Sanchez's strikes.
Bruno Cazarine put Sydney back on level terms in the 64th minute when his well-struck shot squeezed under Phoenix keeper Tony Warner, before Wellington's bench kicked them in to life.
Alex Smith, who replaced Lia, looked lively in the middle of the park and could earn a start against Perth, while Ifill was his ever-dangerous self.
Their energy sparked the Phoenix, which lead to Sigmund and Ifill's late heroics to propel the Phoenix ahead of Sydney and in to fourth spot on the A-League ladder.
Sydney skipper Terry McFlynn said travelling to Wellington was always a tough ask.
"It's a difficult trip. There's no hiding behind that. We've come across two days early this time to try and see if that makes a difference.
"The Phoenix have got a fantastic record here at Westpac. They've made it a fortress [and] difficult for teams to play here. They're aggressive and they start very well from the very first whistle and, as we've seen today, when we got out noses in front they got their heads down and worked hard, got themselves back in to the game and we can't put our finger on it to be honest.''
Wellington Phoenix 4 (Daniel 25' pen, Dani Sanchez 42', Ben Sigmund 78', Paul Ifill 90') Sydney FC 2 (Brett Emerton 16' pen, Bruno Cazarine 64') HT: 2-1
