New Dunedin Netball general manager Lee-Anne Anderson was still not sure where the coffee and tea were kept when the Otago Daily Times arrived for a chat.
It was the 38-year-old's first day in the job and she graciously agreed to an interview before morning tea time.
Anderson, who has an extensive background in marketing and event management, is taking over the role formerly held by Noeline Burden.
Anderson had previously been employed as a promotions manager at the Radio Network and also spent 13 years at Cadbury as an events co-ordinator, so she brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
But just exactly what the new job entails will take some working out.
When Netball Otago and Netball Southland merged late in 2012 to form a new entity, Netball South, a tier of management disappeared.
Dunedin Netball, which had been solely responsible for running club netball in the city, was suddenly responsible for managing the city's representative teams as well.
Anderson's role is to make the structural changes work and to use her marketing and event management background to promote Dunedin representative teams.
''With my background that will be a strength but there will also be some administration tasks and management of the rep netball teams,'' she said.
The role is a part-time one. Her contract is for 22.5 hours each week.
Anderson said she was joining an organisation which was in a sound financial position and which had more than 3000 registered players on its books, so the sport was in good health.
The big challenge, she said, was to build on the ''great work'' which had been done in recent years.
Otago's success at the past two national championships would provide some leverage with potential sponsors.
''We need to capitalise on that success ... and we want to continue to have a really strong relationship with our current supporters and sponsors and to broaden the family of supporters so that we can do more with our grass-oots netball.''
Anderson's playing background has been limited to social netball but she is passionate about the sport.
''It is a great sport to be involved in. It is great for fitness and it is nice just to play netball with a group of friends.''
She is married to Ian and the couple have a son, Jacob, who turns 7 tomorrow.
