Netball: Pulse lose chief executive

Central Pulse netball chief executive Chris McNay confirmed today he was stepping down from the position, although no date has been set for his departure.

McNay, who is also chief executive with Netball Wellington Region (NWR), may stay involved in some capacity with both organisations.

McNay's brief when he took on the roles five months ago was to restructure and rejuvenate netball in the region. A Pulse statement today said it was expected the changes would continue.

The Pulse secured their highest finish in the trans-Tasman league this season in finishing eighth, and have signed former Southern Steel coach Robyn Broughton for the 2012 season.

Netball New Zealand has agreed to fund the Pulse, which made a loss this year, under certain conditions.

While McNay agreed this was inevitable, he said he was uncomfortable with the conditions, feeling they impacted on his ability to run the Pulse.

McNay is currently working with the Pulse and NWR to help with the transition to a new chief executive.
