A lot of his spare time has been spent at the ground.
Reggett (50), the groundsman at King's High School, has played cricket on the sacred turf, helped the groundsman and been a liaison officer for visiting teams.
His earliest memory of Carisbrook was helping groundsman Ivan Oliver sen when he was a 15-year-old schoolboy.
His father, Ron Reggett, was the convener of the Otago Rugby Football Union's Carisbrook committee.
"In my school holidays I got the job of cutting the grass at Carisbrook," he said. "We used the gang mower and in those days it would take three or four hours to cut the grass."
In the last 15 years, Reggett has been liaison officer for visiting teams from South Africa, France and other countries that have visited Carisbrook.
He enjoyed working with teams of all ages from New South Wales, but his favourite team was the 2005 Springboks, coached by Jake White.
"When they arrived, it was the first time we had seen a South African team so united," he said. "I remember veteran prop Os du Randt lifting bags off the bus.
"In earlier teams this job was left to the coloured players and junior players in the team."
It worked for the Springboks because they went on to win the World Cup in 2007.
Another memory was being allowed into the "Dugout ", the groundsman's hideaway under the Main Stand.
"It is a place not too many people are invited into," Reggett said.
He also played cricket at Carisbrook for a Southern rugby club team.
"It was in the early days when they were testing the wicket before a major game," he said.
Reggett is sad to be leaving Carisbrook, but is excited about the prospect of shifting to the new Forsyth Barr Stadium.
"Carisbrook has always been the home of Otago rugby in my time," Reggett said. "... But the new stadium looks pretty good."
