The White Robe Lodge training and breeding establishment at North Taieri was to the fore with four wins at Gore yesterday.
The stable was successful with It's Essential, The Boys, Stability and Beata. The first three are 4yr-old mares by Seasoned Star, who stands at White Robe.
The Boys and Beata were ridden by stablemate apprentice Toni Direen. Shankar Muniandy, another apprentice with the stable, rode Stability and stable jockey Jay Misbah was aboard It's Essential.
• Bacio Frances is required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before she races again. The filly hung out badly from the 600m in race 1 yesterday and could could be ridden out. She unseated rider Jay Misbah after the finish when she attempted to duck through the outside fence.
Bacio Francese sustained a deep wound to her chest, requiring veterinary treatment.
Misbah was cleared to continue riding.
He's Pauaful was put down after injuring his pelvis in a fall in race 4. He clipped a heel and fell at the 700m. His rider Daniel Stackhouse was not injured.
Volonte was pulled up in race 6 after her saddle slipped at the 1000m.
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing has suspended the requirement for races restricted to apprentice riders at six meetings in the central districts due to a shortage of apprentices.
The Auckland Racing Club has amended the scratching time for the Karaka Million meeting on Sunday to 12.30pm that day.
The decision was made with the forecast of Cyclone Wilma arriving in Auckland tonight.
The first race on Sunday is at 5.09pm and the extended scratching time will allow trainers more time to assess the condition of the track.
• Ortensia is set to resume racing in the Australia Stakes under lights at Moonee Valley tonight, AAP reports.
Ortensia has not raced since finishing fifth in the Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) won by J J Jetplane at Sha Tin on December 12.
"She's been out of quarantine for nearly two weeks now. We were able to keep her ticking over in Hong Kong and then at Werribee," trainer Tony Noonan said.
"She hasn't raced in the autumn in Melbourne before so we're looking forward to it. It may be a part of the year which suits her best and she's well prepared for it."
