Coup Callum, owned by Ray Coupland and partner Jill Walls, had not been successful since January, 2008, but he has had some worthwhile placings, including a third in the White Robe Lodge Handicap, a fourth in the Riverton Cup and a second to Tick Tock Turbo at the Grand National meeting last month.
Coup Callum, who came from back in the field to win over 1600m yesterday, will step up to 2000m in the North Canterbury Cup at Riccarton on October 25.
He has been entered for the $250,000 Coupland's Bakeries Mile at the New Zealand Cup meeting.
The Pitman-trained Eel Win finished fourth yesterday after racing three wide under 59kg.
"I thought it was a better run than the winner," Pitman said.
He plans to start Eel Win in the New Zealand Cup Trial (1800m) at Riccarton next Saturday with a view to the $1.2 million Kelt Stakes (2040m) at Hastings on October 3.
Beat It, winner of his only start, has been sold out of the Pitman stable to Singapore.
The 4yr-old I Conquer-Dance To My Beat gelding, owned by a syndicate, was successful at Riccarton on August 5.
He has been bought by clients of the stable of Michael Freedman and left on Friday.
Beat It was a $16,000 purchase by Pitman as a 2yr-old at the 2005 South Island Sale when offered by the Berkley Stud, operated by Edwina Morris and Alan Jones at Greenpark.
The Pitman stable has also sold a 3yr-old Towkay gelding out of Barbarelle (by O'Reilly) to patrons of the Singapore stable of Laurie Laxon.
Apprentice Buddy Lammas advised stewards he could not attend the meeting yesterday due to being unwell.
Craig Grylls did not attend the meeting due to transport difficulties.
