ODT Online rugby contributor Jeff Cheshire rates the All Blacks after their 24-9 win in the third test against France.

Israel Dagg 6/10: Did a good job with his clearance kicks which constantly relieved pressure, while also being safe under the high ball. Tried to run but never really managed to threaten. Also made a few mistakes which he loses half a mark for, most notably a missed one on one tackle which forced the All Blacks to scramble.

Ben Smith 7/10: Seemed to keep popping up everywhere in the first half and was once again one of the best on the park. Sliced through the French defence twice and did well to stay in-field to score the first try.

Conrad Smith 6.5/10: Bailed the team out on defence a couple of times and tidied up a lot of ball on attack. Ran hard when given his chances in a typical Conrad Smith type way.

Ma'a Nonu 6.5/10: Was dangerous when he decided to run, proving a handful for the defence. Looked to kick more once again and did so well. Had a couple of defensive lapses, which were not all necessarily completely his fault.

Rene Ranger 7/10: Broke a tackle almost every time he touched the ball and become extremely prominent towards the middle of the second half. Threw a couple of nice offloads out of the back of his hand too, while also chasing the kicks hard. Makes you wonder what could have happened had he been able to stay.

Daniel Carter 6/10: Solid performance in his first game back, generally kicking well and providing direction for the team, while also prepared to take the line on and made plenty of tackles as always. Made a few mistakes though and missed a few kicks at goal.

Piri Weepu 5/10: Was generally tidy and did not do a lot wrong but at times his service was too slow. It must be remembered though that he was not getting as clean ball as Aaron Smith was last week.

Kieran Read 7/10: Another top notch performance,, running strongly and at good angles. Tackled hard all night and was a safe option to be the go-to man at lineout time. Loses half a mark for three handling errors near the start of the second half in an otherwise very good performance.

Sam Cane 6.5/10: Made a lot of tackles and seemed to be everywhere on defence. Was used more as a ball runner too and was strong in doing this.

Victor Vito 6.5/10: Was a powerful ball runner, always making a few extra metres in contact and was far more prominent on the attacking end than Liam Messam. Worked hard on defence too, making a lot of tackles.

Sam Whitelock 6.5/10: Got up and competed against a better functioning French lineout, while also getting through his work around the park. Physical in the contact situations and had a high work rate.

Luke Romano 7/10: Was one of the best for the All Blacks, always went forward running with the ball and was brutal on defence. Threw a couple of nice passes which put Owen Franks into gaps and was reliable when used at lineout time.

Owen Franks 6/10: Hit a couple of good short balls from Romano at a good angle to break the defence and was strong in the close contact situations. Gave up one scrum penalty on a night where the scrum did not function as well as it could have.

Andrew Hore 6/10: Got involved in the tight and tried to get a couple of breakdown turnovers. Was generally good throwing the ball into the lineout, with most throws finding their target.

Wyatt Crockett 5/10: Worked hard in general play, but conceded three penalties in kickable positions, two of which were from scrums.

Keven Mealamu 6/10: Came on late and closed the game out well. Was strong over the ball at the breakdown and was good with the pick and go.

Tony Woodcock 6/10: Was fairly solid without being spectacular. Got beaten badly in his first scrum but improved as the game went on and was doing a reasonable job by the end of the game.

Ben Franks: (Did Not Play).

Steven Luatua (No Rating): Made a couple of tackles and was mainly used as a decoy on attack.

Matt Todd (No Rating): Came on late to close the game out. Threw a bad pass but tried to get involved in everything on debut.

Tawera Kerr-Barlow 6/10: Certainly added a spark when introduced and was more feisty than Weepu while also delivering a faster pass. Still not at the level of Aaron Smith though who should retain the starting jersey for the Rugby Championship.

Beauden Barrett (No Rating): For the second week in a row came on with three minutes to go and scored a try, a result of a good chase of a chip kick from Ben Smith.

Charles Piutau (No Rating): Made one good kick deep into the French half and looked okay running when he got his hands on the ball. Got involved in the tight stuff near the end too to close the game out.
