One of the oldest surviving All Blacks will receive his first test cap at another New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) capping ceremony at New Plymouth on Friday.
Outside back Roy Roper, who made his test debut in 1949, is among 17 players, including former captain Graham Mourie, who will be presented with their All Blacks caps.
The New Plymouth event is a continuation of an NZRU initiative launched in 2008 to formally present more than 400 former All Blacks or their families with test caps earned after World War 2.
Players who will receive their caps this week are: Roy Roper (Taranaki, debut Sept 1949 against Australia), George Beatty (Taranaki, May 1949 against British Isles); Peter Burke (Taranaki, August 1955 against Australia); Ross Brown (Taranaki, September 1955 against Australia); Roger Urbahn (Taranaki, July 1959 against the British Isles); Kevin Briscoe (Taranaki, August 1959 against the British Isles); Terry O'Sullivan (Taranaki, June 1960 against South Africa); Neil Wolfe (Taranaki, July 1961 against France); John Major (Taranaki, August 1967 against Australia); Alan Smith (Taranaki, May 1969 against Wales); Alistair Scown (Taranaki, August 1972 against Australia); Ashley Gardiner (Taranaki, September 1974 against Australia); John McEldowney (Taranaki, July 1977 against British Isles); Graham Mourie (Taranaki, July 1977 against British Isles); Murray Watts (Taranaki, July 1979 against France); Andrew Donald (Wanganui, November 1983 against Scotland); Kieran Crowley (Taranaki, June 1985 against England).
