Local media report that Singapore and Hong Kong have withdrawn their offer to host matches for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Hong Kong and Singapore were proposed to stage some World Cup matches when Japan was initially named as host for the 2019 tournament.
Japan's Kyodo News agency have quoted Japan Rugby Football Union President Yoshiro Mori as saying that both Hong Kong and Singapore have informed the JRFU they want no part in co-hosting the World Cup.
"Hong Kong and Singapore have told us they are withdrawing. Japan will host the tournament on its own," Mori, a former Japanese prime minister, was quoted as saying.
Last month the International Rugby Board announced that all but one match in this year's Pacific Nations Cup rugby tournament has been moved from Japan to Fiji because of the country's devastating earthquake and tsunami.
The IRB said the decision was taken in consultation with the JPRU after reviewing "logistical, administrative and operational requirements for hosting four international teams and six test matches."
The Japan-Samoa game on July 2 will remain in Tokyo but the other five games will be in Lautoka and Suva in Fiji.
