A police spokesperson said they were called to the Edgeware Rd store in St Albans about 12.30pm after a report of someone "acting aggressively".
The person then allegedly assaulted the store manager and customer before fleeing in a vehicle, the spokesperson said.
An investigation into the incident was ongoing.
Hato Hone St John national retail manager Emma Stokes told The Press it had offered support to the people affected by the attack.
"We have zero tolerance for any violence or aggressive behaviour towards our people and customers," Stokes said.
"We are very grateful to NZ police for their swift actions."
