Emergency services were called to reports of a car fire in Christchurch to discover it was actually a homeless man cooking food.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said one crew from the Anzac station attended the Hawke St incident in New Brighton at 12.30pm on Friday.
“It’s a bit of an unusual call,” the spokesman said.
He said the 'fire' was out on arrival and police have been notified.
