A person has died and another is injured following a crash in Rangiora earlier today.
Emergency services were called to Percival St about 12.45pm where two vehicles had collided.
Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison confirmed the death in a statement tonight.
"Despite the best efforts of first responders and emergency personnel, one of the drivers died at the scene.
"Police are providing support to their next of kin."
A second person was treated for moderate injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination.
The road has since reopened and inquiries into the cause of the crash were continuing.
