One dead after boat capsized

    A person has died after a boat capsized near Kaikōura.

    Emergency services were notified about the incident just after 7am on Monday, police said.

    Two people were on board.

    One person made it to shore safely, while the other was found on the beach nearly an hour later and was unable to be revived.
