Assault, fight, on Dunedin streets

An 18-year-old woman was knocked unconscious in an incident yesterday.

Police were called to a Bayview Rd property at 3.45am after reports of the assault, Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said.

Police were looking for three people in connection with the assault: a male and two females.

The woman was released from Dunedin Hospital yesterday.

• A fight over a woman resulted in two men being arrested in Dunedin yesterday.

Snr Sgt Aitken said a 21- and a 22-year-old were discovered fighting on the corner of Moray Pl and Princes St shortly before 3am.

"It appears they were fighting over a girl."

The men were arrested for fighting in a public place and would appear in Dunedin District Court next week.

• Fairfield School's staffroom was burgled on Thursday afternoon, the thief making off with the princely sum of $2.

A youth, who is believed to have accessed the staffroom via louvre windows, was seen running from the area, Snr Sgt Aitken said.

• Dunedin police are also wanting information on the person who tagged two Taieri Gorge Railway storage wagons at Easter weekend.
