It is giving away to older people 300 "Keeping Warm Keeps You Well" packs, many containing a "weather station" to enable them to keep track of the temperature and humidity in their homes.
Age Concern health promotion co-ordinator Toni Paterson said the biggest challenge elderly people faced in winter was keeping warm within their budgets.
Income restrictions often meant they sacrificed heating their home and put their health at risk as a result, she said.
For those over the age of 65, a healthy indoor temperature was 21degC and anything under 16degC put them at risk of respiratory illness.
"This gives them some easy, simple tips they can do."
The weather station meant the elderly could monitor the effects of any of the changes they made.
Packs included tips for saving electricity and reducing dampness, information regarding heating and insulation and details about the funding available to assist in making changes.
Tips: How to keep your home dry and warm and minimise dampness.
- Open windows and doors (security and weather dependent).
- Use an extractor fan vented to outside above oven and in bathroom.
- Use lids on pots when cooking.
- Open curtains early and close them just before sun goes down.
- Wipe condensation off windows as soon as possible.
- Dry washing outside, or if using a drier, open a window or vent it outside.
- Use heat pumps, wood burners or pellet burners or flued gas heating instead of portable gas heaters.
- Have only a few plants in your home and choose ones that need little watering.
