Cracked windscreen sends Boeing back to Auckland

A cracked windscreen forced pilots of an Air New Zealand Boeing 737 to return to Auckland after taking off for Wellington this morning.

Air New Zealand said the crack was identified on the outer layer of a side cockpit window and as a precautionary measure the pilots decided to return.

Passengers were transferred to another aircraft for their journey and the affected aircraft was expected to be back in service today.
