Cardrona Valley Appeal over declined application

A Cardrona Valley developer has appealed to the Environment Court after the Queenstown Lakes District Council declined an application for resource consent for a building platform on his property.

At consent hearings in March, Lakes Environmental planners recommended two separate consent applications lodged by Dunedin company director Lane Hocking and his company LAC Properties Trust Ltd be declined because they did not meet strict planning requirements for the Cardrona Valley's outstanding natural landscape zone designation.

A consent for residential dwellings at Mr Hocking's Rob Rosa Station was granted with conditions, but he was refused consent for the 813sq m building platform and associated earthworks on his neighbouring 83.79ha "Heartlands" property, located about 7km north of the Cardrona township.

Mr Hocking has asked for the commissioners' decision to be overturned in its entirety and for consent to be granted subject to appropriate conditions.
