The door of the Connectabus was left crumpled and the windscreen cracked, while a Toyota Hilux and a Subaru Outback parked on the side of the road were both damaged.
Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said the bus had been travelling downhill into town about 2.45pm when the driver "lost control for whatever reason and [the bus] side-swiped the two parked vehicles".
He said it was unknown at this stage how many people were on the bus. Investigations into the crash were continuing.
