DQ launching 'visit now' bid

A spring and summer marketing campaign is being launched in Australia this week by Destination Queenstown, showcasing the diversity of the region and providing compelling reasons to "visit now".

The campaign has received additional dollar-for-dollar funding through a $5 million government fund, which has been set up for joint-venture marketing in Australia.

The fund is administered by Tourism New Zealand and is available to gateway regional tourism organisations.

Queenstown had received $1 million additional funding, which would be used in conjunction with Lake Wanaka Tourism and industry partners during the 2010-11 financial year.

Destination Queenstown marketing general manager Graham Budd and the consumer marketing team were responsible for putting the funding bid together.

He said he was delighted with the result.

"It's effectively doubled our marketing spend in Australia for the year, which is fantastic."
