The drink-driving message is not getting through in Queenstown, despite a booze bus operating in the town for the second weekend in a row, police say.
Acting Sergeant Mark Caswell said seven people were processed for drink-driving between Friday evening and yesterday morning.
Two other drivers recorded breath-alcohol readings of exactly the legal limit of 400mcg, so were not charged.
Among those caught was a 31-year-old British man who recorded a breath-alcohol reading of 1147mcg after being stopped outside his Fernhill home at 1.47am yesterday.
Most of the drivers were caught after trying to avoid the booze bus by taking alternative routes, Acting Sgt Caswell said .
''It's really disappointing - there are plenty of taxis in town.''
A 34-year-old Englishman living in Queenstown was arrested and will be charged with assault after he allegedly ''king-hit'' another man at midnight on Saturday at the Queenstown Events Centre following a charity boxing event.
Two Christchurch men were arrested about 11.30pm on Friday and given pre-charge warnings for disorderly behaviour.
The pair, aged 20 and 21, were caught urinating while waiting in a line to enter a bar in Cow Lane in central Queenstown.
