Inquiries are continuing after Queenstown police received a complaint on Saturday at 3.40am. Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said a taxi driver picked up a couple and took them to a Frankton Rd address, where they began to argue about the fare.
"The female jumped out of the taxi ... and opened the door into another car, damaging a panel," Sgt Watt said.
• Police are awaiting forensic results from fingerprints taken from a Loop Rd address after the owner of the holiday home reported a break-in. Sgt Watt said the alleged incident had occurred in the past six weeks and was reported to police on Saturday afternoon.
"The informant stated the bedroom window ... had screws from the aluminium frame removed and glass broken."
Nothing was reported missing from the address, but fingerprints were being analysed.
• A 29-year-old Queenstown man was charged with obscene language on Saturday at 11.15pm after police observed him allegedly making inappropriate comments to two Asian women in central Queenstown. Sgt Watt said a group of four "quite intoxicated" men had been observed by police abusing people as they walked past them. The two women were "not impressed" by the comments made, Sgt Watt said.
• A 33-year-old man who allegedly ate a bread stick from the counter of Fergbaker on Sunday at 4.30am before realising he had no way of paying for it was taken into police custody for "detoxification purposes", Sgt Watt said. The man allegedly consumed the food before he noticed he had no wallet and no money. However, "he was extremely drunk and couldn't understand what the problem was".
Arrangements were later made for payment for the bread stick, Sgt Watt said.
• A resident complained about vehicles speeding along Speargrass Flat Rd on Monday at 8.30am. The complainant said four pets had been killed in the area. Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of Queenstown, said highway patrol would be notified of the complaint.
• Vehicles collided on the corner of Stanley St and Coronation Dr on Monday at 3.52pm. Snr Const Blackford said the front vehicle slowed down and the following vehicle drove into the back of it. There was minimal damage and no injuries.
• A 26-year-old British man and a 23-year-old New Zealand woman were arrested and charged with theft of a motorcycle on November 17. Snr Const Blackford said the motorcycle was parked on Duke St with the keys in the ignition. A witness told police the couple loaded the bike into another vehicle in the Queenstown Recreation Ground car park. A Sunshine Bay house was searched and the motorcycle was found. Both are expected to appear in the Queenstown District Court.
