"The informant stated the bedroom window ... had screws from the aluminium frame removed and glass broken."

Nothing was reported missing from the address, but fingerprints were being analysed.

Sgt Watt said a group of four "quite intoxicated" men had been observed by police abusing people as they walked past them. The two women were "not impressed" by the comments made, Sgt Watt said.

• A 33-year-old man who allegedly ate a bread stick from the counter of Fergbaker on Sunday at 4.30am before realising he had no way of paying for it was taken into police custody for "detoxification purposes", Sgt Watt said. The man allegedly consumed the food before he noticed he had no wallet and no money. However, "he was extremely drunk and couldn't understand what the problem was".

Arrangements were later made for payment for the bread stick, Sgt Watt said.

• A 26-year-old British man and a 23-year-old New Zealand woman were arrested and charged with theft of a motorcycle on November 17. Snr Const Blackford said the motorcycle was parked on Duke St with the keys in the ignition.
