Upper Clutha fire brigade teams won a swag of trophies at the recent Otago Southland Wajax firefighting competition held in Kingston.
A female team representing the Lake Hawea Fire Brigade claimed five trophies, including the top overall prize, the Wajax Women's Shield.
The team, which consists of captain Kelly MacKenzie, Sharon Arthur, Shelley Brown and Audrey Nisbet, only just missed a clean sweep of the female trophies when a Ranfurly Fire Brigade crew secured a last-ditch win.
The Wanaka Fire Brigade also won two trophies in the men's Wajax competition.
However, despite claiming the McClunie-Cowie trophy for the best technical runs, Wanaka was unable to outpace overall winners the Dunedin Rural Fire Brigade.
About 21 teams from around the two southern regions competed at the two-day event at Kingston during the weekend.
The Dunedin firefighting team claimed overall honours.
