A new charitable trust will have about $1 million in capital funds to allocate to Wanaka organisations once it has been incorporated.
The trust is being set up after the recent sale of 93 Ardmore St, formerly owned by the late Gra and Olive West.
The fund is the result of a bequest by Mr West, who died in 1995.
His will stipulated the proceeds from the sale of the house be applied to charities.
Mrs West died last year and left her half-share in the house to relatives.
Wanaka Community Board chairman Lyal Cocks said yesterday the Queenstown Lakes District Council would be asked to confirm him as its trustee nomination at a meeting on April 12.
Other trustees are Gillian Bremner, the chief executive of Presbyterian Support Otago, and Wanaka resident Bryan Umbers.
The property is now owned by Ardmore Holdings (Wanaka) Ltd, which is directed by Ashburton accountant Ross Gibson of Gabites Ltd.
The shareholder is Whitehouse Nominees Ltd, a company formed by Mr Gibson's accounting firm partners.
It represents a client of Gabites Ltd.
The 1131sq m property has a rateable value of $4.22 million and is believed to have sold for about $2 million.
The Snow Park has a short-term tenancy and the new owner plans to eventually build a multi-level commercial building on the site.
