"This is terrible - no-one knows where to go," an emotional Terezie Prabova told the Otago Daily Times.
Ms Prabova and her Czech Republic compatriot Radim Sarapatka are the caretakers at a Tenby St property they share with 18 other residents from Sweden, France, Austria, Spain, Italy and Japan.
Ms Prabova said a council letter accompanied the court eviction injunction and advised the residents to "look in the yellow pages" for alternative accommodation.
They were aware work needed to be done on the property, but evicting them was not the answer.
"We are the real victims here," she said and pleaded with the council to let the group remain at the property until winter's end.
The caretakers said they had a signed tenancy agreement for three months, which includes a $450 bond.
The residents pay $150 a week to live at the Tenby St property, informally known as "the Wanaka gym".
Ms Prabova works at a local bakery, while Mr Sarapatka is a ski instructor.
Many of the other residents also work in seasonal winter jobs.
They were packing their belongings and preparing to stay at a camping ground last night when the Otago Daily Times visited yesterday evening.
Conditions inside the large property were clean and tidy, although the interior in some rooms is run-down.
Residents have separate rooms and share communal areas, such as the kitchen and lounge.
Mr Sarapatka said he was unsure where he would find accommodation, but predicted it would "probably" be at a backpackers.
"It's an awful feeling to be kicked out. We are not a backpackers like the council says. It is really nice and we all have a lot of fun living here together," he said.
