A ‘wellness and amenity building’ is in the works for Arrowtown’s Ayrburn hospitality precinct.
Northbrook Arrowtown Ltd, a company associated with Ayrburn developer Chris Meehan, is seeking approval from Queenstown’s council to construct the 1622.6 square metre building between the existing hospitality precinct and the swanky Northbrook Arrowtown retirement village development, to the north of the site.
According to the resource consent application, which is being vetted by council, the proposed building will comprise a 25m-long swimming pool, saunas, a gym, yoga and pilates areas, treatment rooms with associated changing rooms, a wellness lounge, residents’ lounge, reception areas, a sales suite and back of house/plant operations — there’s also a petanque course planned outside.
It’ll be open to future residents of Northbrook Arrow-town, which includes 142 independent apartments, guests of a planned boutique hotel, and the public.
‘‘The proposal will complement the Ayrburn development, Northbrook luxury later living and boutique hotel by the waterfall to create efficient use of resources and a vibrant [Waterfall Park Zone],’’ the application says.
‘‘Overall, any potential adverse effects associated with the proposed activities will be less than minor,’’ the application says.
