Queenstown Police are on the hunt for a hungry burglar who helped himself to slices, cakes and pastries - as well as the till - from an award-winning Queenstown cafe last night.
Senior Constable Sean Drader, of Queenstown, said the man broke into Bespoke Kitchen, on Isle Street, at 9.40pm last night after using something to crack a lock on the rear door.
CCTV footage showed the man wander past a display full of tasty treats before helping himself to banana bread and lemon slices, then taking the cash till.
"[Then he] got more cakes - he was definitely a hungry guy.''
The man was described as being about 177cm and was wearing a beanie and a jacket with distinctive stripes.
He also had a beard and entered carrying a backpack, but left with two bags having appeared to have found another one inside the cafe.
In 2016 Bespoke was named New Zealand Cafe of the Year.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Queenstown Police.
