The award was presented in Sydney last Thursday.
Southern PR was founded in 1996 by Fiona Woodham and specialises in media liaison, social media, crisis management, marketing, specialist events and awards.
Australian Leisure Management publisher Nigel Benton said the magazine was ‘‘on the receiving end’’ of Southern PR’s ‘‘consistently impressive’’ efforts.
‘‘They do a wonderful, effective and industry-leading job on behalf of their clients in leisure and tourism and they are rightly being recognised for that.’’
The awards recognise excellence among individuals, organisations, businesses and government in the leisure industry.
‘‘When done well, marketing and communications build a brand’s reputation and add to the bottom line of any business,’’ Mr Benton said.
‘‘At the same time, communications and marketing are also about dealing with crisis and standing up to scrutiny, something that several of our winners have had to face in the past year.’’
Ms Woodham, who was not in Sydney to collect the award, said it was ‘‘massively exciting’’ to be recognised.
‘‘Southern PR’s been going for 21 years, so obviously we’re delighted with the award because it recognises the work we do throughout Australasia in the tourism and leisure sectors’’, she said.
