Mike Kernaghan has done it again.

He has returned home from the Seven Nations tournament on the Gold Coast with two medals.

Kernaghan proved again that he can match the best bowlers in the world by winning a gold medal in the fours and silver in the pairs.

"I’m happy by the way I played," Kernaghan said on his return to Dunedin.

"It was a good couple of weeks for me."

Kernaghan struggled in his first two games in the Trans Tasman series on the Gold Coast greens but came right after that and was in top form during the Seven Nations event.

"It was just about getting time on the Australian greens," Kernaghan said.

"It took us longer than we expected to adjust to the greens.

"You have to play a slightly different style of game and it took us a couple of days to get used to it in a match situation.

"We played too many short bowls and they had more bowls in that 3m window behind the jack to play to.

"Once we started to do that we became competitive with the Australians. In the second week after the Trans Tasman, we all played pretty well."

Kernaghan was impressed by the quality of the grass greens.

"The greens are beautiful to play on," he said.

"We had no excuses in that regard."

The Black Jacks won six medals at the event at the Broadbeach Bowling Club — two gold, three silver and one bronze.

Australia dominated the event on its home greens by winning six gold medals from the eight disciplines. Scotland, Malaysia and Canada also won medals.

The other competing countries were Hong Kong, China and Wales.

The New Zealand fours team of Tony Grantham, Kernaghan, former Dunedin bowler Paul Girdler and Ali Forsyth beat Australia Gold (Brett Wilkie, Aaron Teys, Aaron Wilson and Scott Thulborn) 17-9 in the final.

The pair of Kernaghan and Shannon McIlroy won the silver medal when beaten narrowly by Barrie Lester and Nathan Rice (Australia Green) 16-14.

McIlroy won the singles when he beat Alex Marshall (Scotland) 21-18.
