New Zealander Marcus Daniell has made the final of the Heineken Open doubles tennis tournament.
Daniell and his Romanian partner Horia Tecau came from a set down to beat Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands Antilles 3-6 7-6 10-8. The last New Zealander to win a title at Auckland was Brett Steven, who won the doubles with Pat Galbraith in 1998.
Daniell, ranked 670 in the doubles rankings, and Tecau will now play the Brazilian pairing of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in tomorrow's final.
Daniell's win put the seal on a good day for New Zealand tennis.
Earlier, Dan King-Turner put himself one win away from making the Australian Open main draw after winning his second round qualifying match 6-4 6-3 against Kevin Kim of the United States.
Their match will precede the singles final between American John Isner and Arnaud Clement of France.
