Joseph, who had earned four caps since making her international debut earlier this year, is joined by eight of her Matatu team-mates in the squad that will play against England at Twickenham and then head to Canada for the WXV1 at the end of September.
Matatu players Alana Bremner, Atlanta Lolohea, Georgia Ponsonby, Kaipo Olsen-Baker, Lucy Jenkins, Marcelle Parkes, Phillipa Love and Amy Du Plessis are also part of the 30-player squad.
Winger Ayesha Leti-I'iga returns from injury, as does co-captain Kennedy Simon.
Ruahei Demant remains as the other co-captain.
Black Ferns coach Allan Bunting said Leti-I'iga’s return was special.
She was phenomenal in the Rugby World Cup final in 2021, where she scored two tries.
After being ruled out with an ACL injury in June last year, Bunting was excited to see what she could bring.
"To have Ayesha returning is special, she has worked hard for this opportunity", Bunting said.
‘‘She is lethal both sides of the ball, and her experience and character really enhances our environment on and off the field. We look forward to seeing her get back out there.
"Our wāhine have been working hard, so this selection has been tough. We have seen a real competitive edge within the environment which has attributed to growth we are seeing in the group.
"This tour presents an awesome opportunity for our wāhine to face the best. The spectacle of playing at Twickenham, and the experience we gain from WXV 1, play an important role in our build up for next year’s Rugby World Cup."
The Black Ferns leave New Zealand on September 6 and play England at Twickenham on September 15 (NZ time).
They then head to Canada for the second edition of WXV1 where they will play Ireland (September 30), England (October 7) and France (October 13).
