Robert Maxwell used his strength to score long range tries in each half as Dunedin scored 10 tries to demolish Zingari-Richmond 62-3 in Dunedin premier rugby.

Dunedin retained its unbeaten record that it shares with Taieri and Southern.

Southern and Taieri lead the competition with 19 points and are followed by Dunedin 17, Alhambra-Union 14, Kaikorai 11, Zingari-Richmond 7, Pirates 6, University A 5, Harbour and Green Island 1.

Three first half tries by centre Nick Jones took the wind out of the students sail and paved the way for a comfortable 37-26 win by Southern against University A.

In the clash between Taieri and Green Island the return of prop Junior Sala gingered up the Green Island pack and gave his side a 7-0 lead after two minutes.

It took the defending champions time to get back into the game and it only made the game safe when Michael Collins scored a try with five minutes left to get its 26-15 win.

Kaikorai dominated territory but was not able to claim its 16-10 win over Alhambra Union until fullback Tony Ensor intercepted a pass on his own 22m and ran 80m to score the winning try nine minutes from the end. For more photos from this game click here

The tight five helped kick-start the season for Pirates with a bonus point 29-20 win over Harbour at Hancock Park.

It was the engine room of the Pirates pack that began to exert itself near the end of the first-half and dominate the breakdown and set piece. This pressure began to show late in the first half.
