The level 4 lockdown restrictions mean The Star cannot be published this week.

Star Media regional manager Steve McCaughan said it was disappointing Christchurch's best-read newspaper wouldn't get out to homes and pick up retail outlets, supermarkets, service stations and dairies etc.

"If we can keep Delta out of the South Island and move down an alert level, we will then be able to recommence publishing all our titles next week," he said.

However, the latest Christchurch, Canterbury, national and international news could be found on Star Media's website starnewsco.nz, he said.

During level 4 we are still publishing our regional titles, the Selwyn Times, Bay Harbour News, Ashburton Courier and North Canterbury News to connect their local communities.

Allied Press, which Star Media is a division of, would also continue to publish the Otago Daily Times including delivery to Christchurch retail outlets in Canterbury and publish most of its Community titles.
