Maori Hill Garden Club
bus trip to Lawrence to visit a country garden near Waitahuna, and Wetherstone daffodils. Bus departs from corner Cannington Rd, opposite Cairnhill St at 9.30am. Please have suitable footwear. Inquiries to 466-7879.

Alexandra Garden Club monthly meeting, 7.30pm in the Central Otago Education Centre. Everyone welcome. meets at the Community Church Hall, 1.30pm. Speaker Mary Walsh on travels in South America. Raffles, sales table and afternoon tea. Competition: a spring flower.

Bonsai meeting, Holy Cross Church hall, Ajax St, St Kilda, 7.30pm. Members' workshop: Members to bring along tree to work on and tools, wire etc. Tree of the month: Larch (competing for the Tim Foster Memorial Trophy). Favourite tree and non-schedule. Inquiries to 454-2113.

Otago Rose Society
meets at St Peter's Church hall, Hillside Rd, 7.45pm. Speaker Davie from the Red Barn on the delights of spring. Sales table, raffles and supper. All welcome.

Flower Festival

: See What Plants Can Do - searching for a natural antimicrobial. University of Otago senior research fellow David Schmierer analyses native plants from Dunedin Botanic Garden, searching for compounds to fight infections. Noon, Botanic Garden Centre, Upper Lovelock Ave.
