Maori Hill Garden Club meets 10.30am in the Maori Hill Community Centre.

North Otago Garden Club meets in the Foundation for the Blind hall, Steward St, at 7.30pm.

Dunedin Gardening Club meets in the Church of Christ hall, cnr Filleul/St Andrew Sts, 7.30pm. Speakers Adrian Gillespie and Adrian Woodhouse on ''Turning Wild Ingredients into Edible Dishes''. Normal monthly competitions, spontaneous flower: magnolia. All welcome. Contact, Midge 488-2796.

Wednesday, September 9

Botanical Society of Otago presents the Annual Geoff Baylis Lecture: The discovery of slowness: life in the plant lane. 6pm, Castle 1 Lecture Theatre, University of Otago.

Dunedin Rhododendron Group. Graham Smith, retired curator of Pukeiti, New Plymouth, and co author of a forthcoming book on big leaf rhododendrons will speak. This will be followed by a bring and buy plant sale. Sargood Centre, Logan Park Dr, 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.

Taieri Garden Club meets in the McKerrow Lounge, Church St, Mosgiel, at 7.30pm. Alice Lloyd Fitt from Dunedin Botanic Garden will talk about and demonstrate seed sowing and propagation. Competition, sales table and supper. New members welcome. Visitors a gold coin donation.
