A new model of the planned Awatea St stadium went on show yesterday, and will be available soon for public viewing.

Carisbrook Stadium Trust development director Darren Burden said yesterday the model gave a sense of space and volume that paper plans could not easily convey.

Mr Burden said the designs were at a stage where a model showing what the stadium would look like could be built.

Any changes would be minor.

"It's a useful tool to explain to the public what this thing will look like.

"From the perspective of getting out there to secure private sector funding and securing sponsors, this is another tool," he said.

The trust also wanted to put the 1:300 scale model on public display as soon as possible.

Mr Burden said he was not certain where it would be displayed, but it would be somewhere in the city centre, and would also be taken around the region.
