Hospitals are not likely to get any special funding for dealing with accident cases during the Rugby World Cup next year.
An ACC spokesman said there would be no change to the arrangement which bulk funds hospitals for emergency accident cases.
Even with the thousands of visitors expected for the World Cup, the number who would require hospital treatment from accidents would be reasonably negligible, he said.
He expected that hospitals in centres where there would be a major influx of people, such as Auckland, would be doing their own planning on the issue.
"There's been no suggestion any more cash is needed."
He was unable to say how many overseas accident patients received hospital treatment and whether there were large increases with major sporting events, as the corporation did not collect that information.
The corporation would concentrate some of its injury prevention promotion around the event, with the emphasis on both road safety and responsible use of alcohol.
The road safety messages would include improving the way foreign drivers were reminded to drive on the left.
The corporation would also be working with the Alcohol Liquor Advisory Council and the hospitality sector to help get the responsible drinking message across.
He did not know how much money was likely to be spent on these.
