No `positive' leads

Wanaka police have no "positive lines of inquiry" about the burglary and vandalism attack on Wanaka Primary School, more than two weeks ago.

A reward of $3000, put up by a Wanaka business owner, remains available for anyone with information which leads to the conviction of those responsible for the attack and the theft of a laptop computer.

Detective Dave Evans said forensic work was still being carried out on evidence gathered and he appealed for information from the public.

"Someone must know about this and people can tell us in confidence.

''The reward is also available," he said.

Det Evans thought there would be evidence the perpetrators would not be able to hide, such as paint on their clothing and shoes.

The police had received information from the public.

"People are keen to help and have seen the odd thing, but we still haven't got that key piece of information to advance the case," he said.

The vandalism and theft at the primary school were an issue the community wanted to see resolved, Det Evans said.
