Get to the chopper

Forrester Gallery education curator Liz King with a steampunk-themed motorcycle, Chopper Holland, created by the late artist Chris Meder.

The piece is on display in lower Thames St for the duration of the Full Steam Ahead exhibition, which celebrates 10 years of steampunk in Oamaru. The exhibition is being held at Steampunk HQ in Humber St until July 28.

Mrs King said some of the works on display, including the motorcycle, also featured in the 2009 exhibition.

She said steampunk art had become more popular in recent years, as people had grown more familiar with it.
