Today

8pm: Nadia Reid and Luckless Ballads and Badlands tour arrives at the Federal Diner, Wanaka. Reid and Ivy Rossiter, of Luckless, descend from Auckland on 13 townships and cities around the country to play a celebration of alternative-folk music throughout New Zealand Music Month. Tickets cost $10 from Under the Radar online.

8.30pm: The Queenstown Film Society presents its second weekly feature in Dorothy Brown's Cinema, Arrowtown. Black Sun (2005), by British film-maker Gary Tarn, is a 70-minute boundary-pushing documentary inspired by the experience of French artist Hugues de Montalembert, who lost his sight in an assault in his New York apartment in 1978. Preceded by Taika Waititi's short film Tama Tu. New members can sign up on the night.

 

Tomorrow

7.30pm: The Boundary Riders bring their pre-release tour to the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall. Young country blues singer and musician Rachel Dawick and musician Jon Sanders, plus special guests on various dates, perform musical tales of pioneering New Zealand women.

9pm: Invercargill covers trio Rogue entertains in the Golden Gate Lodge, Cromwell. Free.

 

Thursday

8pm: Showbiz Queenstown and Remarkables Park Town Centre present the musical Chicago, featuring a wealth of Wakatipu talent on stage and backstage, in the Queenstown Memorial Centre until May 25. Tickets cost between $29.50 and $49.50 from Ticketek.

 

Saturday

8.30pm: Sleeping Dogs, with support from Monroe and Supermodel, rock Opium, Wanaka. Admission $5.
