Providing direction

Defining the urban boundaries of Queenstown and Wanaka would give long-term direction to landowners and developers where growth took priority, a Queenstown Lakes District Council subcommittee was told yesterday.

Senior policy analyst Mark Rushworth made the comment when the urban boundary project was tabled at the latest strategy committee meeting.

Crs Mel Gazzard, Lex Perkins and Gillian Macleod joined the Queenstown urban growth boundaries working party yesterday and the initiation report was received.

Crs Lyal Cocks, Leigh Overton and John S. Wilson, and Wanaka Community Board member Carrick Jones, are already on the Wanaka structure plan implementation working party.
