The board of directors at the Queenstown tourism operator Skyline Enterprises has elected Ken Matthews as chairman, only a month after he stepped back as managing director.
He had remained on the board as a director when he handed over the practical management of the company after 13 years in the job.
Skyline appointed Jeff Staniland to the newly created position of chief executive in October.
Mr Matthews told the Queenstown Times he would focus on his director positions at Queenstown tourism companies.
"The role as chairman for Skyline will take a fair bit of my time, but I will no longer be actively hands-on involved in the day-to-day running of the company," he said.
Former chairman Barry Thomas had held the post for 33 years.
He announced his wish to step back from the role at the annual meeting in September, but has remained on the board as a director.
