Wanaka vodka gains silver

A Wanaka-made vodka won a silver medal at last month's San Francisco world spirits competition.

Broken Shed Vodka, founded in 2010 by Mark Simmonds and Mark O'Brien, was one of 1106 entries from 61 countries. The entries were evaluated by 33 judges from the spirits industry.

Broken Shed, which began in "an old shed on a mountain", is made without additives or sugars.

The co-founders said yesterday they were happy with the competition result.
