
Nelsen's wife Monica is expecting their second child on the eve of the July 11 cup final by which time the All Whites are more than likely to be history.
The English Premier league player told the Dominion Post this week that "nothing on this earth would prevent him flying home for the birth".
The All Whites' final pool match is against Paraguay about two weeks before the final.
"If it (the baby) comes a couple of weeks early it could be interesting," Nelsen said.
"I'd had to get on the plane and head straight home."
